Inspiration for "Humility"
"Not proud or arrogant;" or "having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience, etc." is how dictionary.com describes the word humble. To have humility means to exhibit these behaviors and/or qualities. As a Christian, we see many examples of how Jesus made Himself lower in order to lift others up - even unto death. He left His place in Heaven to take up a flesh suit like us, lived life like we do, showed how to put others first all before making the ultimate sacrifice. What better example of humility than someone who lays His life down for another (really the whole world!). Mary took what was valued highly, some suggest well over a year of wages, and poured it out on the feet of Jesus. She was willing to give everything of value that she had to show honor and reverence to Jesus. She made her value decrease to show an increased value for Him. There is so much we can learn from her actions. As believers, we are called to pour ourselves out to decrease ourselves to lift up our brothers and sisters, and certainly the LORD.
